35mm Wedding

My couple specifically requested the wedding be captured on 35mm film, and I was delighted to oblige. Naomi & Jacob have so much TASTE it’s ridiculous. Upon arriving at As We Dwell, a cool warehouse in the Arts District of LA, my jaw hit the floor and I couldn’t load my camera fast enough.

How is this for a visual treat: The wedding party was a riot of pinks, blues and purples. The venue was Studio 54’s little cousin, dressed up for the evening in disco balls, vinyl records and so much sass. My lovely stylish bride had three wedding dresses, each one more incredible than the next. I’ll admit to my favourite, the arrival dress. It used to belong to Naomi’s grandma. Isn’t it divine?

Jacob put the finishing touches to his vows surrounded by antique typewriters, as Naomi shared a brief moment with her dad before walking down the aisle. This set up was actually really cool, they had guests on both sides and held the ceremony in the middle of the room. I don’t know how many times I (silently) ran up and down the corridor outside for both angles!

As We Dwell is a really cool event space. Each room can be used so many ways, and I loved how the ceremony space was able to become a disco so fast. Not gonna lie, I loved the rickety ladder which gave me the best views of the dancing and not a fall to certain death.

Before the party ended I had a specific mission – to use a roll of black and white film on the streets of Los Angeles at night. I can’t thank Art, Jacob’s dad, enough for chaperoning. He also found the epic graffiti for portraits. THANK YOU Art!
